Shenmue the Animation

Japan, 1986. In the quiet port town of Yokosuka, Ryo Hazuki's life rests on simple, almost unchanging rules: training in the family dojo, the reserved guidance of his father Iwao, everyday school life, and the streets of Dobuita with their signboards, eateries and familiar faces. Ryo is strong, stubborn and straightforward, but his skill still carries plenty of youthful rashness, the very thing his father tries to tame with patience and discipline. Everything falls apart one winter day when a mysterious martial artist named Lan Di bursts into the Hazuki home. He demands an ancient mirror connected to Iwao's past and effortlessly crushes everyone who stands in his way. Ryo witnesses his father's death with his own eyes, hears fragments of the name Zhao Sunming, and realizes that the killing was no random act of violence but part of a far darker story. From that moment on, the teenager's world narrows to a single goal: to find Lan Di and learn why Iwao had to die.
