This Privacy Policy explains what information AnimeGO (animego.net, "we", "the site") collects when you use the site, why we collect it and what choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you register we store your username, email address and a securely hashed password. You may optionally add an avatar, a profile cover, a status, gender, birthday, city, country and an "about me" text.
Activity on the site. If you are signed in, we store your anime lists (Watching, Planned, Completed and others), ratings, comments, likes, friends, private messages, notifications, viewing progress and site settings.
Feedback. Messages and files you send through the feedback form, together with the name and email you provide.
Technical data. Like most websites, our servers record your IP address, browser type, the pages you open and the time of the request. We use it to keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix errors.
2. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, remember your settings (for example light or dark theme and player preferences) and protect forms from abuse. These cookies are necessary for the site to work.
We also use Microsoft Clarity and our own page view counter to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. These tools collect anonymous usage data such as clicks, scrolling and device type. You can learn more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
3. Video players and third-party content
Videos and trailers on the site are shown through embedded players provided by third parties (for example YouTube and other video hosting services). When you start a player, that provider may receive your IP address and set its own cookies according to its own privacy policy. We do not control these services.
4. How we use information
- to provide your account, lists, comments, messages and other features;
- to send service emails, such as email confirmation and password recovery;
- to answer your feedback requests;
- to moderate content and protect the site and its users from spam, fraud and abuse;
- to analyse and improve the site.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not send you advertising emails.
5. What other users can see
Your username, avatar, profile information you choose to fill in, comments and ratings are public. You can control who can see your lists and statistics and who can message you in your profile privacy settings.
6. Data retention
We keep your data while your account exists. Technical logs are kept for a limited time needed for security. When you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed; some information may be kept for a short time in backups or where required by law.
7. Your rights
You can view and change your profile information in your account settings at any time. You may also ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account by contacting us through the feedback form. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
The site is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The new version is published on this page with the date of the last update.
