Immortality

In the world of Immortality, strength decides not only the outcome of a battle but a person's very right to be heard. Above the mortal realms tower clans, cultivation schools and immortal sects, where the road to longevity begins with tempering the body, mastering secret techniques and fighting ruthlessly for resources. At the very bottom of this ladder lives Fang Han, a servant boy of the Fang household who tends the horses and has grown used to humiliation the way others grow used to the morning cold. Yet a defiant thought has long burned within him: better to beg for alms than to spend a lifetime bound to someone else's will. Secretly watching martial training sessions and repeating the moves he has stolen, he clings to his one chance of escaping a slave's fate. Everything changes when chance brings Fang Han face to face with the dying master Baihai Chan and with ancient treasures: the Golden Pill of the Nine Apertures and the mysterious Diagram of the Yellow Springs. Along with power, the youth inherits a dangerous legacy: other people's feuds, the secrets of the cultivators' world and a promise that may set him on a collision course with those who stand immeasurably above him.
