Hula Fulla Dance

In the coastal city of Iwaki in Fukushima, there is a place where everyday Japanese life is unexpectedly tinted with the warm colors of faraway islands: Spa Resort Hawaiians, a huge resort with pools, hotels, hot springs and a stage where hula dancers perform every day. For guests, it is a celebration of spotlights and smiles, almost a little Hawaii in the middle of Tohoku. For those behind the scenes, it is work that demands stamina, discipline and the ability to bring joy even when you yourself are scared. Hiwa Natsunagi, a high school girl from Iwaki, cannot figure out where to go after graduation. Her future seems hazy until her eye catches a poster for the resort where her older sister Mari once worked. A sudden impulse proves stronger than her doubts: knowing next to nothing about hula, Hiwa applies for the audition for new hula girls, because, like her sister, she wants to step onto the stage and make people smile.
