Mutafukaz is a French-Japanese co-production based on the comic book series (bande dessinée) of the same name by Guillaume Renard, also known as Run. The comic first appeared in 2006 and continued to be published until its final chapter came out in 2015. Adapting the comic took seven years of work: the project was announced by the company Ankama in 2011, and the film premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2017.

The film is a unique blend of French and Japanese animation traditions, which makes it especially interesting for fans of the genre. The story told in the comics and brought to the screen is gripping thanks to its energy and its unusual plot. Mutafukaz is not just an adaptation but a genuine work of art that managed to preserve the spirit of the original while adding new colors and details, which is why the film became a significant event in the world of animation.
