Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi!

Meiko Morita leaves Akita for Tokyo after finding an offer that promises a place at Amamiya Girls Academy with support for living costs. She arrives expecting a normal dorm and a clean path to help her family, but the arrangement is not what she imagined. Her assigned residence is Hedgehog, a manga cafe, and her room is only a narrow booth inside it. To stay enrolled and cover expenses, Meiko becomes a live in employee. School, cleaning, front desk work, and late shifts start to fill the same day, leaving her to learn how to sleep, study, and work in a space that barely feels private.

Hedgehog becomes the center of her new life. Meiko meets other students and residents who also carry reasons for staying there, including girls with family trouble, odd habits, and personal goals that do not fit cleanly into school rules. The cafe demands ordinary labor, from serving customers and handling computers to keeping booths usable through busy nights. Amamiya Girls Academy adds its own pressure through classes, uniforms, and social rank. Meiko keeps trying to act capable even when Tokyo overwhelms her, and the people around her slowly turn the cramped cafe into a shared home. The story follows her adjustment to a life built from small shifts, short sleep, cheap meals, awkward friendships, and the decision to keep going because the one tatami space that first looked like a mistake becomes the place where her new future begins.
