The Legend of Hei 2

Xiaohei continues living and training with Wuxian after finding a place between humans and spirits, but that balance breaks when the Liushui Guild Hall is ambushed with weapons made to kill yaojing. Evidence points toward stolen Roumu wood, a rare spiritual material that should have been under guild control, and suspicion begins turning toward Wuxian because he is the only human Enforcer strong enough to stand above most spirits. The elders summon him, and Xiaohei travels with him to the Main Hall, where they meet Luye, Wuxian’s former student. What begins as an inquiry becomes a deeper case about missing materials, dead spirits, and a plot designed to make both sides believe peace has failed.

Xiaohei and Luye are forced to work together while Wuxian moves under suspicion and human military forces prepare for conflict. Luye carries old anger toward humans, while Xiaohei still believes in the path Wuxian showed him. Their search exposes Lingyao, an elder who arranged the attack, armed mercenaries, and framed Wuxian to push yaojing toward war. Lingyao wants spirits to strike first before human technology grows strong enough to threaten them. Xiaohei’s unstable space power and Luye’s resolve become the key to breaking his formation, even as both are injured in the collapse that follows. Wuxian later retrieves the stolen Roumu wood from a military base, but the danger is not fully gone. The last missing piece remains leverage, and Xiaohei’s answer is no longer blind loyalty to one side. If humans and yaojing go to war, he will stand with the side that is right.
