The Cat and the Dragon

Deep in a forest inhabited by magical beasts, a mother cat discovers a newborn dragon that lost its real parent before it could be raised. She takes the fire-breathing hatchling in and raises it beside her kittens, while the other cats accept him as an unusually large family member who can fly. The dragon never forgets that kindness. As he grows, he stays close to the forest cats, protects them, and watches over each new generation in repayment for the home his mother gave him. To the cats he becomes the beloved Uncle Wings; humans who fear his size and power call him the Cat Dragon. Around him, curious cats follow very different paths and form unexpected ties with people. Their connected stories unfold as a series of encounters about the dragon, the family that shaped him, and bonds that cross the boundary between species.
