Have a Nice Day

A hard rain is about to fall on a small town in southern China. Xiao Zhang, a lowly driver for a local gangster, is desperate for money: his fiancée's plastic surgery has gone wrong, and he needs cash to fix it. In a moment of recklessness he steals a bag containing one million yuan from his boss.

News of the robbery spreads through the town in a matter of hours, and over the course of a single night a whole string of people go looking for Xiao Zhang and the bag: a hitman sent by the boss, a small-time hustler, a young couple dreaming of a fresh start, and others who all believe the money could change their lives. This darkly comic animated crime film by Liu Jian follows their paths as they cross and collide, with deadpan humor, sudden bursts of violence and a sharp eye for small-town ambition.
