Cencoroll

Cencoroll is a short science fiction film created by Atsuya Uki, who handled almost every aspect of its production himself. Set in an ordinary Japanese town, it follows Yuki, a curious girl who discovers that one of her classmates, Tetsu Amamiya, is secretly taking care of a bizarre creature he calls Cenco. The strange, shapeshifting being can change its form at will, and Tetsu treats it with the casual familiarity of a pet owner.

Yuki wants to learn everything she can about this odd but lovable creature. However, things take a dangerous turn when another student, Shuu, appears with a creature of his own and attacks Cenco. Yuki soon realizes she may have gotten in over her head.

As Tetsu and Shuu clash through their monstrous companions, the town becomes the stage for a surreal battle, and Yuki has to fight to protect both herself and the people she cares about. With its distinctive character designs, quiet humor and striking action, the film became a cult favorite and later received a sequel.
