The Pilot's Love Song

After a bloody coup in the Balsteros Empire, the young crown prince Karl was spared because of his age. He was adopted by a commoner, and now, as fifteen-year-old Kal-el Albus, he studies alongside his adoptive sister Ariel in the Aerial Division of Cadoques High. Kal-el has grown sincerely attached to his new family and outwardly accepted his fate, but deep down he still hates Nina Viento, the young wind sorceress who led the revolution to success and brought about the death of his parents. As a mere cadet, Kal-el knows he cannot get anywhere near one of the country's rulers, so he decides to focus on his training and become an excellent pilot, leaving the future to time.

The school sits on Isla, an island in the sky sent out to uncover the 'end of the sky' spoken of in ancient mythology. There Kal-el meets the charming Claire Cruz and enjoys a carefree life with his schoolmates, until a surprise attack by the air tribe drags Isla into a bloody war.
