Ren, who moved from far-off Canada to Japan, has finally settled into his older brother Haru's home. He has gotten used to the local way of life, found common ground with new people and even helps out at the family café, which for the first time in a long while is starting to bring in a steady income. Their lives seem to have found a long-awaited balance, but the sudden appearance of their mother, Haruko, turns everything upside down. She announces that she intends to take Ren with her to Switzerland, and her decision shatters the fragile peace between the brothers, who had only just begun building trust and understanding.

Conflicts escalate, since Haru is not ready to let his youngest brother go, while Ren, torn between his love for the family and his confusion over what is happening, gets lost in his own feelings.
