Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales

Three classic Japanese horror stories about vengeance, love and the supernatural.

Yotsuya Kaidan: Iemon Tamiya, a handsome samurai, has lost his position after his master's death and finds himself in desperate straits, with an unloved wife and a small child. Unexpected salvation seems to arrive when a young, wealthy neighbor, captivated by his looks, offers to marry him, on the condition that he gets rid of his current wife. Iemon agrees, never suspecting the horrific consequences his actions will bring.

In Tenshu Monogatari, young falconer Zushonosuke, searching the forest for his falcon, comes across a magnificent kimono hanging from a tree. Soon a beautiful naked woman emerges from the river: Tomihime, a princess of the spirits. The embarrassed youth leaves, unaware he has escaped death: Tomihime, enchanted by his beauty, forgot to kill him as she usually does with humans. This chance meeting kindles a forbidden love that changes their fates forever.

In Bakeneko, a young bride dies just before her wedding. A wandering medicine seller who happens to be in the house tells the family that her death is the work of a bakeneko, a cat demon that will not stop until it destroys the entire clan, and the search for the cause of its hatred uncovers a terrible sin from the family's past.
