Oban Star-Racers

In the near future, humanity is actively exploring space and has made contact with various alien civilizations; some have become allies, others dangerous enemies. For several years Earth has been at war with the Crogs, a powerful military empire determined to impose its rule. Eva is an ordinary girl who lost her mother in a terrible accident and was left without the support of her father, who sent her off to boarding school. When her birthday passes without so much as a call from him, she runs away. Hiding her real identity, she ends up working for her father under the alias Molly.

Meanwhile, a mysterious being called the Avatar invites Earth to take part in the Great Race, a grand interstellar competition held only once every ten thousand years, whose winner is granted any wish. Seeking salvation from the Crog threat, humanity assembles a team for the contest, and Eva becomes part of it. Soon, however, she learns that the true purpose of the race on the planet Alwas is far less innocent than it first seemed. Overcoming hardships, she sets out on a path that will change her life, and with it the fate of all of Earth.
