Momo, Girl God of Death

A girl dressed in white, with a blunt yet shining scythe in her hand – her name is Momo. By her side is a winged black cat named Daniel. Known officially by her number, A100100, she guides the souls of humans, and her existence parallels that of a death god, or shinigami.

The series is made up of six independent stories, each about people connected with someone who has recently died or lies in a coma. Although their time to die has not yet come, the shinigami girl Momo appears to them and helps them resolve their problems. Momo differs from other shinigami in that she tries to ease people's suffering, whether they are alive or already dead, by delivering messages from the departed to the living. She often cries, explaining that she cries for those who no longer can.

At the instant this white death god touches people's hearts, the world fills with kindness and grief. Gentle and melancholic, the series uses its episodic format to explore loss, regret and the words left unsaid between the living and the dead, with Daniel providing a grounded, sometimes sharp-tongued counterpoint to Momo's tender heart.
