Nagisa Yukiai was born and raised in a seaside town. She grew up in a warm home, and her beloved grandmother taught her to be polite and kind, so Nagisa became a sweet girl who was always ready to help her friends. Her grandmother told her many stories and asked her never to throw words around carelessly, believing that every word carries its own energy and that you must know what to say at the right moment.

On warm evenings her grandmother told Nagisa about kotodama, the spirits that dwell in words and give them special power. Thanks to these teachings, Nagisa grew up kind and sensitive and chose her words carefully. She often wandered around town, and one day she strayed into a mini FM station that had not been used for years. Its equipment turned out to still be in working order. On the spur of the moment she tried talking like a DJ, and her voice, accidentally broadcast, reached someone she never expected. Soon an idea struck her, and she hurried to share it with a friend: the girls start their own broadcast about the magic of words, which they call "Kotodama Radio."
