Good Bye, Dragon Life

Dolan was once an ancient dragon whose life had grown long, powerful, and empty. After allowing himself to be slain, he is reborn as a human in Verun Village and chooses a quiet existence built around fields, village work, and small duties. He remembers what he used to be, but he does not chase that scale again. The past returns through instinct, knowledge, and strength that no normal villager should have, yet Dolan keeps using them for ordinary protection rather than conquest. His routine changes when he meets Celina in a swamp, a lamia who left her home to find a partner but cannot approach humans without frightening them. Dolan treats her with calm respect, and their friendship gives Celina a place in Verun instead of another rejection.

The village slowly becomes a crossing point for people and beings tied to Dolan’s former life. Christina, a young noble knight, arrives with her own burdens. Dolan keeps trying to live as a farmer and villager, but trouble keeps testing whether he can remain ordinary when ancient enemies, jealous powers, and political threats move near the people he protects. Celina learns how to stand beside humans without hiding what she is, while Dolan learns that peace is not the same as retreat. His new life does not erase the dragon he was. It gives that power a smaller, warmer purpose: protect the home he chose, answer the past when it arrives, and keep living as Dolan rather than returning to the loneliness of a godlike beast.
