Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho

In Edo Japan, Jinta, guardian to a shrine maiden in a remote mountain village, is ordered to slay a forest demon. The encounter alters him and binds him to a prophecy that a Demon God will emerge in the distant future. To fulfill a promise and avert the calamity, he takes to the road under the name Jinya, cutting down man-eating oni and human conspirators who exploit them. His prolonged life drags him across eras from Edo into the late shogunate and beyond, where officials, swordsmen, exorcists, and drifters become shifting allies and foes. Cases linked by cursed relics and repeating patterns point to the same will behind the prophecy. As unrest swells into Bakumatsu turmoil, Jinya’s pursuit forces choices about what remains of his humanity and how far he will go to protect the people he once swore to guard.
