The Fable

Akira Sato is known in the underworld as «The Fable, ” a professional killer so efficient that people talk about him like an urban legend. Then his sponsor pulls the brake hard and gives him a rule that sounds simple but is basically torture for someone raised to assassinate on instinct: disappear for a while, live like an ordinary citizen in Osaka, and do not kill anyone. To sell the cover, Akira moves in with his partner and driver Yoko, who has to pose as his sister while keeping him from slipping back into old habits. They end up under the protection of a local yakuza group, which means „normal life“ is still surrounded by people who can smell danger. Akira takes a regular job, tries to learn small talk, and forces himself to act harmless even when he reads every room like a battlefield. The problem is that Osaka’s criminal world does not stop moving just because he is on break. Suspicious gangsters keep probing for the truth, and civilians get pulled into ugly situations that trigger every instinct Akira has. He meets people like Misaki, a neighbor struggling under debt and pressure, and the closer he gets to everyday life, the more complicated his restraint becomes. The story runs on that tension: a man trained to solve problems with violence has to survive with patience, observation, and self control, while the city keeps offering reasons to snap the rule that is keeping him alive.
