Apocalypse Hotel

In ruined Tokyo a lone hotel still operates. Robot manager Yachiyo keeps rooms, power, and routines alive with a small staff and a tanuki family that can pass as human. Days revolve around maintenance, foraging in overgrown streets, and offering service to whoever appears. Guests arrive in ones and twos. Some are machines that need repairs and a place to recharge. Some are travelers from off world who treat the building like a museum of a species that vanished. A girl named Ponko grows into responsibility as she learns the job beside Yachiyo and her relatives. Rumors spread about why Earth emptied and whether the air remains lethal. When a human raised in space finally checks in, the staff test careful methods to host someone whose body cannot handle long exposure. The answer they find does not restore the past. It gives the hotel a purpose. Keep the doors open. Record what people valued. Serve without complaint as the world slowly decides whether to return.
