Haigakura

Ichiyo works as a Kashikan in Senkai, a realm where humans and immortals live under a failing order. The land once depended on the Four Perils, gods who acted as pillars, but two have escaped and other gods have scattered into distant places. Kashikan are meant to recover them through song and dance, sealing gods into sacred vessels called sai. Ichiyo is bad at the part everyone measures first. He cannot sing properly, and that makes other officers treat him as a failure. He still travels with Tenkou, a water deity bound to him, and Kaka, a strange childlike god whose nature is difficult even for skilled Kashikan to handle. Ichiyo’s reason for working is not glory. He wants to restore the life taken from him after Hakugou, the divine beast who raised him, was imprisoned.

The journey sends Ichiyo and Tenkou through places where runaway gods, old contracts, and official orders never mean only one thing. Capturing a god can save Senkai, but it can also break a bond, expose a lie, or cost Tenkou more of himself because Ichiyo’s methods are unstable. Ai-Seiwa, Ransaiwa, Sonto, and other figures around the shrine and departments keep pulling the mission into politics tied to the country’s collapse. Ichiyo hides anger behind sarcasm and violence, yet every case points back to the same wound: he is chasing the gods partly to free the one who raised him. Tenkou stays beside him even as use in battle damages memory and personality, turning their partnership into another risk. The road forward is built from failed songs, desperate dances, gods who do not want to return, and the question of whether saving Senkai is possible without sacrificing the people Ichiyo is trying to recover.
