My Ribdiculous Reincarnation

A man dies and meets a goddess who offers him a new life in another world. The obvious choices are blocked by absurd waiting times. Becoming a hero with special powers, a demon king, or another important figure would take tens of thousands of years. Instead of waiting, he chooses the first ridiculous option that can send him out at once and is reborn as the rib of a hero. His new life gives him no normal body, no direct control over the quest, and no grand role beyond being part of someone else’s skeleton. He observes battles, reacts to danger, and learns that reincarnation can be less about glory than about surviving whatever form the next life gives him.

The cycle does not stop with one failed choice. Each return to the goddess becomes another negotiation over what he can become without waiting in line. He takes stranger forms, including a hermit crab and even a plate of curry, and every body changes the rules of what he can do. A life that should be a shortcut turns into a chain of trial runs where basic movement, speech, safety, and purpose have to be relearned from scratch. The goddess stays nearby as a guide and commentator, but she does not make the choices harmless. Each reincarnation throws him into a new situation with its own hazards, from heroic battles to ordinary objects caught in someone else’s story. The point he slowly understands is simple. If he refuses to wait for the perfect life, he has to accept lives that barely count as lives at all and still find a way to move the story forward.
