Nobody

A small pig yaoguai fails at robbery and tries to find work at King’s Cave with his toad friend. The place is preparing to capture Tang Sanzang, whose flesh is said to grant immortality. Pig and Toad are given the impossible job of cleaning an old cauldron, but Pig ruins the treasured writing on it while making it shine, and the two are driven out. Instead of giving up, Pig decides they can reach the West before Sanzang, take the sacred scrolls, and win a future no one would ever offer to lowly demons. To pass through human lands, they pretend to be Sanzang’s party. Toad becomes the monk, Pig becomes Zhu Bajie, a talkative weasel becomes Sha Wujing, and a timid gorilla is forced into the role of Sun Wukong.

Their disguise pulls them through caves, villages, and enemies who mistake the act for truth. Dog yaoguai, Yellow Brow’s forces, and frightened children turn the fake pilgrimage into something more dangerous than Pig planned. The group argues, panics, lies badly, and still keeps moving because each of them wants a life beyond being disposable underlings. When children are captured, Pig, Weasel, Gorilla, and Toad stop chasing only immortality and choose rescue instead. Pig’s father’s forbidden transformation gives them a final way to fight, but using it costs their yaoguai forms. They defeat Yellow Brow long enough to save the village, then return to ordinary animal bodies as dawn comes. The real Monkey King later understands what they did and leaves them four life saving hairs, while villagers honor the nameless creatures who acted like heroes without ever being allowed to become famous ones.
