Word of a route that slips past collapsed tunnels points them toward a deeper stratum, where pressure, light, and time feel slightly wrong. The team moves with a simple rule. Advance when supplies, maps, and bodies allow, camp when the Abyss pushes back. Relics from abandoned outposts hint at researchers who tried to bend the rules that govern each layer and paid for it. Surface expeditions loom at the edge of the map, forcing the trio to hide what they carry and to avoid being turned into guides. Riko chases any thread that might lead to her mother. Reg learns what his arm can do without losing control. Nanachi reads signs that the place that remakes everything is remaking them as well.
