Nichijou - My Ordinary Life Episode 0

In this episode zero of Nichijou - My Ordinary Life, released as a bonus with the sixth volume of the original manga, viewers are drawn into a world of everyday problems and their solutions. The episode shows how one might get the Professor, the childish little genius who built the robot girl Nano, to drink some bitter medicine. It is no easy task, but with wit and patience it can be done. We also see how to motivate Yukko, known for her laziness, to do her homework. Her apathy and reluctance to do anything at all set her friends a difficult challenge, but they find ways to get her moving.

The episode also shows how much fun it can be to ride an empty train with your friends. The moment brings joy and a sense of freedom, when you can chat and laugh carelessly without worrying about anyone else around. Like the series itself, the episode is full of small but meaningful slices of life that help viewers understand the characters and their relationships better, mixing ordinary school-day situations with the absurd, over-the-top comedy for which the series is known.
