Macross Delta

In the distant future, humanity has left Earth and built an interstellar civilization alongside its long-lost relatives, the Zentradi. Wars seem a thing of the past, but new troubles soon arrive. A mysterious illness, the Var Syndrome, turns humans and Zentradi alike into bloodthirsty berserkers while keeping their combat skills. Medicine is powerless against it, but song can heal. The era of solo idols like Lynn Minmay and Sheryl Nome is over; now the stage belongs to Walküre, a tightly knit tactical sound unit led by the charismatic Mikumo. While they heal people with the power of their music, they are guarded by the elite Delta Squadron of Valkyrie pilots.

Hayate, a drifter who lives wherever the wind takes him, never imagined his path would cross with Walküre and Delta. But he meets Freyja, a cheerful girl who dreams of becoming a singer, and Mirage, a beautiful but tightly wound pilot who strives for perfection. The three end up on the planet Ragna, where the keys to humanity's survival lie. Freyja gets the chance to perform alongside her idols, Hayate gets to fly with the wind, and Mirage must live up to the honor of her ancestors. Together with their new friends, they must stand against the enigmatic Aerial Knights of the Kingdom of Wind, whose goals remain unclear.
