The Last Summoner

The world of The Last Summoner looks almost ordinary: noisy streets, small kitchens, the smell of hot noodles and the everyday worries of people who long ago forgot how to believe in miracles. But beneath this familiar surface lies an old, almost forgotten story about summoners, people able to respond to the spiritual power of living beings and objects, call forth entities from an unseen layer of reality and form bonds with them. Ah Jie, a talented young cook, is the last person you would pick as the chosen one: his dreams are simple, and he only wants to perfect his recipes. Everything changes when a hungry girl named Dora suddenly appears in his kitchen. She turns out to be a summoned spirit, practically a goddess, who without a shadow of doubt calls Ah Jie her master, even though he is not ready for that role at all.

At first their alliance looks like a misunderstanding. Ah Jie tries to get rid of his pushy companion, but a summoning is not a prank that can be undone with a wish. When he accidentally becomes a summoner himself, there is no turning back, and meeting Dora draws him into a world with its own laws, where every contract brings responsibility and awakened power inevitably attracts danger, including a struggle between the Guardians and the Destroyers.
