Kamisama Dolls

Kyouhei Kuga has moved to Tokyo to attend university, believing he has left his old life behind. At a student party, the guys get him thoroughly drunk and talk him into confessing his love to Hibino Shiba, the prettiest girl in the whole year. Kyouhei has had far too much to drink, and in the end Hibino has to practically drag him home herself. But when they step into the elevator, they find a mutilated corpse.

That night, a kakashi, a wooden god-doll, comes to Kyouhei. For centuries his home village has harbored a secret order of seki, people able to control the kakashi with their minds, and his family belongs to it. Kyouhei himself was once a seki, but years ago he left this very doll to his younger sister Utao and insisted that she become its next controller. Now he learns that Aki, a seki who betrayed the village and killed many people, has escaped from confinement and is here in Tokyo. Kyouhei's apartment is destroyed in the encounter, but Hibino's father agrees to take him in and seems to know what is going on. Can Kyouhei stop Aki and his kakashi, make peace with his family and stay with the girl he loves?
