Wizard Barristers

The story takes place in Tokyo in 2018, where ordinary humans and people who can use magic live side by side. To keep that coexistence in check, laws forbid the use of magic, and a special magic courtroom presides over lawsuits involving its use. In these cases, the accused are defended by Benmashi, or wizard barristers, lawyers who are wizards themselves.

The anime follows Cecil Sudou, the youngest Benmashi in history, who has just joined the Butterfly Law Office. Earnest and inexperienced, Cecil works together with her colleagues to defend clients accused of crimes involving magic, while trying to prove herself in a profession where every case is complicated by prejudice against wizards.

Directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, Wizard Barristers combines courtroom drama with flashy magical action, and as the cases pile up, a larger mystery begins to take shape behind the incidents Cecil is drawn into.
