Fate/Grand Carnival

Fate/Grand Carnival is a comedy OVA built around the characters of the mobile game Fate/Grand Order. Its first episode was shown in advance on the Fate Project New Year's Eve TV Special 2020 broadcast.

Made in the spirit of the earlier gag anime Carnival Phantasm, it sets aside the life-or-death battles of the Holy Grail War and instead throws the game's huge roster of Servants, along with their Master, Ritsuka Fujimaru, into a series of short, self-contained comedic skits. Familiar heroes and villains from across the Fate franchise appear in exaggerated and unexpected roles, poking fun at their personalities, the game's events and the franchise's own conventions.

Packed with references, cameos and in-jokes, the OVA is aimed primarily at players and longtime Fate fans, but its sketch format and slapstick humor make it an easygoing, festive celebration of the series rather than a continuation of its main story.
