86 Eighty-Six: Special Edition - The Poppies Bloom Red on the Battlefield

This special edition retells the story of 86 Eighty-Six through the eyes of Vladilena "Lena" Milizé, the handler of Shinei Nouzen and the Spearhead Squadron, who believes it is her duty to witness everything that happens no matter how much pain and sorrow it brings.

The war between the Republic of San Magnolia and its neighbor, the Giadian Empire, has been going on for almost ten years. The Empire developed and deployed autonomous drones known as the Legion. Seeing the huge imbalance in combat power in the enemy's favor, the Republic completed its own machines based on similar technology and presented them as unmanned drones, when in fact they were piloted by living people. Enemy attacks are repelled, but at an enormous price, while the news hides the true losses.

The Republic officially consists of 85 sectors, but there is also an 86th, where the Colorata, a people discriminated against and treated like livestock, are forced to live. Bloody battles rage there day and night, fought by the Eighty-Six who pilot the Republic's war machines. Lena is appointed handler of the Spearhead Squadron, made up of veteran Eighty-Six fighting on the eastern front. Spearhead is led by Shinei Nouzen, whose previous handlers are rumored to have lost their minds.
