World War Blue

World War Blue is set in Consumeria, a fantasy land torn apart by a long war between two great powers: the Segua Kingdom and the Ninterdo Empire. Segua has been steadily losing ground to the overwhelming might of the Empire, whose forces are led by Emperor Marcus. Cities fall one after another, supply lines are cut and the kingdom's army is forced to retreat. Just as Segua seems to be on the verge of defeat, the tables are turned by the appearance of a boy called Gear, whose incredible speed lets him cover great distances in an instant and outrun any soldier on the battlefield.

The series is a playful allegory of the console wars between Nintendo and Sega. All of its characters are parodies of heroes from Nintendo and Sega games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and many others, while the two nations and their struggle mirror the real-life rivalry between the companies. Gear himself is modeled on Sonic, and his arrival brings fresh hope to Segua's exhausted army.
