Hozuki's Coolheadedness 2

The second season of Hozuki's Coolheadedness returns to the bustling bureaucracy of the Japanese afterlife. Just as in this life, the afterlife needs a calm troubleshooter to deal with the administrative headaches of keeping everything in order. Enter Hozuki: a cool, collected and frighteningly efficient demon who serves as chief aide to the Great King Enma, judge of the dead, and who is badly in need of a vacation.

While the good-natured but easily flustered Enma presides over the courts of Hell, it is Hozuki who actually keeps the place running, overseeing its many departments and dealing with lazy staff, troublesome sinners and visitors from other mythologies. He handles every crisis with deadpan composure, ruthless logic and, when necessary, a well-aimed club. Helping him, and occasionally getting in his way, are the young demons Karauri and Nasubi, the white dog Shiro and many others, while his feud with the womanizing Chinese beast Hakutaku remains a reliable source of trouble.

The series is a dry, darkly comic take on Japanese folklore and mythology, filtered through the everyday absurdities of working life.
