Brynhildr in the Darkness Special

Brynhildr in the Darkness Special is an unaired episode, numbered 11.5, that was included with the second Blu-ray/DVD volume of the TV series. It fits between the eleventh and twelfth episodes of the broadcast and features the same cast and setting as the main story.

Brynhildr in the Darkness follows Ryouta Murakami, a high school student obsessed with proving the existence of aliens ever since a childhood accident claimed the life of his friend Kuroneko. When a transfer student named Neko Kuroha arrives looking exactly like the girl he lost, Ryouta is drawn into the secret world of the magicians: girls who escaped from a mysterious research facility, possess dangerous powers and can only stay alive by taking a special medication, all while being hunted by the people who created them.

The special offers an additional chapter featuring Ryouta, Kuroha and the other girls who share the observatory with him, giving fans a little more time with the characters during the series' run.
