Puniru is a Kawaii Slime

Kotarou Kawaii creates a slime during elementary school, and the creature unexpectedly comes to life. He names her Puniru, keeps her near him, and treats her as a strange but familiar childhood friend. Years later, Kotarou is in junior high and wants to appear more mature, especially because he has feelings for his senior, Mami Kirara. Puniru has also changed. She can reshape herself from a simple slime into a girl and into other forms she thinks will make her look cute. Kotarou tries to act as if her transformations are only a nuisance, but Puniru keeps forcing herself into his school life, his free time, and his attempts to impress Mami. Her goal is simple. She wants Kotarou to admit that she is cute again.

Their daily routine becomes a chain of arguments, contests, misunderstandings, and small reconciliations. Puniru follows Kotarou into situations where she does not understand human boundaries, while Kotarou keeps denying that her presence matters to him. Mami’s kindness gives him another reason to push Puniru away, but Puniru’s jealousy and need for attention keep breaking through his plans. Friends and classmates are pulled into the chaos as Puniru’s body lets her copy looks, change size, and turn simple problems into public disasters. She is childish, selfish, and lonely at once, and Kotarou’s frustration often hides the fact that she has been beside him for most of his life. The story follows how both of them grow out of an old owner and pet bond into something harder to define. Kotarou has to face feelings he cannot sort neatly, and Puniru has to learn that being seen as cute is not the same as being understood.
