Isami Ao, a soldier in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and Lewis Smith, a United States Marine, meet on Oahu during joint military exercises where both sides train with giant humanoid weapons. The drills are interrupted when hostile forces suddenly attack and the island turns from a staged battlefield into a real one, with units scattered and communications collapsing under pressure. In the middle of the chaos, a talking super robot named Bravern appears and charges into the fight as if it has been waiting for this exact moment. Bravern insists that only Isami can pilot it, forcing Isami into a role he did not ask for while everyone around him is struggling just to survive the first wave. Lewis stays close as an ally and witness, trying to keep people alive long enough for a counterattack, while Isami is pulled between military discipline and the shock of being chosen by a machine that seems to know more than it should. Each clash becomes a test of coordination and trust, because Bravern fights with confidence but demands total commitment from its pilot. As the attacks continue, Isami and Lewis are pushed into harder decisions about sacrifice, responsibility, and what it means to keep fighting when the enemy does not behave like a normal army.
