Sasaki and Peeps

Sasaki is a worn down salaryman who decides that the simplest way to add warmth to his days is to adopt a pet, and he chooses a small bird with a star on its chest without realizing that this tiny creature is anything but ordinary. The bird reveals himself as Piercarlo, a reincarnated Star Sage from another world, and once Sasaki gives him the nickname Peeps, their lives lock together in a pact built on mutual benefit and uneasy trust. Peeps grants Sasaki access to magic and the ability to travel between worlds, turning a tired office routine into a double life where one door opens into a parallel society of nobles, wars, and survival politics, and the other door drops him back into modern Japan with bills, meetings, and trains. Sasaki tries to use the new situation pragmatically, building trade connections and learning how to move carefully so he does not become a pawn, but trouble keeps finding him anyway. In Japan, he is pulled into conflicts involving psychics and violent «Irregulars, ” while in the other world he gets close to a country that is sliding toward war. The more he tries to keep things stable, the more his worlds bleed into each other, and the story becomes about a man who wanted a quiet change in his life and instead ends up managing crises on two fronts, using calm negotiation one day and life saving magic the next.
