30,000 Miles From Chang'an

Li Bai is a poet of the Tang era, a man of wind, wine and the endless road. He embodies everything people love in great dreamers: a delicate sensitivity, romantic audacity, a thirst for freedom and the ability to see beauty where others simply walk past. He wanders across China, seeking inspiration in mountains and rivers, chance encounters and conversations by a night fire. Every person he meets along the way leaves a mark on him, sometimes bright, sometimes bitter.

But Li Bai's road is not made only of verses and moonlight. He must face palace intrigue, natural disasters, wars and human weakness. The world around him is often harsh, greedy and unjust. Yet the poet does not let that darkness extinguish what matters most within him. He goes on loving life, marveling at nature, searching for his muse and believing that words can outlast pain more surely than any sword.

His fate holds love for women, friendship with great poets, among them Du Fu and Bai Yu, and countless trials that turn a wanderer into a legend. Li Bai passes through joy, loss and disillusionment and still stays true to himself. And so is born the fame of a man whose poems become not merely an ornament of their age but part of the very soul of Chinese literature.
