Kunagi, a man with amnesia and an uncanny grasp of cat behavior, navigates this new ecology by reading body language, redirecting curiosity, and creating paths that keep paws and people apart. Each foray is a risk calculation: scavenge supplies, map routes, and warn stragglers while suppressing the reflex to pet strays that shadow him. Rumors of safe zones and missing companions push him beyond familiar streets toward areas overrun by former neighbors. Encounters with panicked crews and complacent holdouts show how quickly caution fails when loneliness meets purring. Kunagi’s restraint and practical tricks turn survival into a routine, but the premise never changes. One lapse, one cuddle, and the line between observer and cat disappears, leaving only the next survivor to learn the rules.
