My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's

Akira Oda and his class are summoned to the Retice Kingdom to choose a champion. The student president Tsukasa is hailed as the Hero. Akira receives the Assassin job and finds that his status numbers are higher than anyone else. He hides his edge with Concealment while the court pushes the class into training and a dungeon test. After Akira uncovers a scheme, the palace blames him for crimes and orders his arrest. He escapes into a deep labyrinth and survives on stealth, traps, and quick study. He saves an elf girl named Amelia from a dark slime and they travel together. A dragon fight leaves them with a small black cat that Akira names Night and a clue that points toward the land of demons. The road brings them to the elves. Amelia’s sister Kilika leads a faction that treats her as a traitor. A duel breaks the deadlock and forces the truth into the open. Elsewhere Tsukasa leads drills in the Yamato Kingdom and plans for the coming war with the Demon Lord.
