Samurai X: The Motion Picture

Samurai X: The Motion Picture is the 1997 theatrical film of Rurouni Kenshin, featuring an original story set during the Meiji era. The war against the Tokugawa Shogunate ended years ago, but not everyone is content with how it turned out.

Shigure Takimi watched his friends and family cut down in a war that was fought in the name of freedom and prosperity. Embittered by what the new era has cost him, he and a band of desperate rebels have sworn to settle one last score with the government.

Only one man stands in their way: Kenshin Himura, the wandering swordsman who has vowed never to kill again and carries a reverse-blade sword. When Shigure discovers that Kenshin is in fact the Hitokiri Battousai, the legendary assassin of the Restoration, the fight becomes a personal vendetta. Joined by familiar companions such as Kaoru, Sanosuke and Yahiko, Kenshin must face a man shaped by the same violent past he is trying to atone for.
