Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

In 1890 a transcontinental horse race called Steel Ball Run crosses the United States with a huge cash prize. Johnny Joestar, a former prodigy who lost the use of his legs, enters after seeing the technique of Gyro Zeppeli, a traveler who uses spinning steel balls to affect bodies and terrain. Johnny follows Gyro to learn the Spin and slowly regains movement while the two ride east through deserts, canyons, towns, and ambushes. The race promoter Steven Steel is the public face, but the real aim belongs to President Funny Valentine, who uses the event to gather scattered relics called the Holy Corpse. Assassins, rival racers like Diego Brando, and agents with strange powers turn stages into battles. Johnny’s growing mastery evolves his own ability and binds him to Gyro as partner and student. The pursuit of the Corpse pushes everyone toward a moving endgame that exposes the plot behind the race, forces losses that change Johnny’s resolve, and decides whose claim on the prize and the nation will stand.
