Spice and Wolf II: The Wolf and the Amber Melancholy

This special episode of Spice and Wolf, released alongside the second season, returns to the travels of the merchant Kraft Lawrence and Holo, the wise wolf deity of the harvest who has taken the form of a young girl with wolf ears and a tail. Their journey toward Holo's northern homeland of Yoitsu has already been full of risky deals, and their latest scheme involved smuggling gold with the help of Norah Arendt, a young shepherdess.

Now Lawrence and Holo sit down to have dinner with Norah. Holo cannot enjoy her meal at all: she dislikes Norah both because of her profession, since shepherds guard their flocks against wolves, and because of how close the girl has become to Lawrence.

Soon after, Holo falls ill from fatigue, and Lawrence, worried about his dear companion, stays by her side to care for her. As she slowly regains her strength, Holo reminisces about the adventures the two of them have shared so far, in a quiet and warm episode about the bond between the merchant and the wolf.
