Hellsing: The Dawn

Hellsing: The Dawn is a prequel to Kouta Hirano's Hellsing, released as a series of short OVA episodes bundled with Hellsing Ultimate.

The story takes place in 1944, at the height of World War II. Nazi Germany seeks to strengthen its soldiers with technology crafted under the influence of vampiric biology. Fearing that this research could turn the tide of the war in the Axis's favor, Sir Arthur Hellsing, head of the Hellsing Organization, dispatches two of his most dangerous servants to put a stop to the German plot: his butler and soldier Walter C. Dornez, then a cocky teenage boy armed with deadly wires, and the vampire Alucard, who goes into battle in the guise of a young girl.

Their mission sends the pair deep behind enemy lines, where they confront the secret Nazi unit that will later become known as Millennium. It is a conflict that will scar them both forever, and the roots of the bloody war depicted in Hellsing Ultimate can be traced back to this mission.
