Goodbye Mr. Despair OAD

Nozomu Itoshiki goes on teaching at his high school, turning ordinary lessons every day into endless discussions of human flaws, social contradictions and the absurdity of modern life. Any event sets off a stream of gloomy musings in him, capable of turning even a harmless school situation into proof of a universal crisis. The extremely pessimistic teacher's favorite cry remains that he is in despair, and the students of class 2-H have long since grown used to his peculiar behavior – yet each new encounter still ends in unexpected arguments, strange conclusions and ridiculous incidents.

The class is made up of students who are each hilariously abnormal in their own way, plus one relatively normal girl who hates being called normal. Some of the schoolgirls try to talk Nozomu out of his theories, others play along with his pessimism, and still others deliberately push things to total absurdity, creating chaos right in the middle of class. Everyday conversations about homework, culture, relationships or school events quickly turn into a chain of ridiculous situations in which the teacher sees signs of looming catastrophe. Running into his students outside school, Itoshiki discovers just how unusual their habits, secret hobbies and odd ways of solving problems really are.
