Kaiju No. 8: Hoshina's Day Off

Kaiju No. 8: Hoshina's Day Off is a special side story set in the world of Kaiju No. 8, where gigantic monsters known as kaiju regularly attack Japan and the Defense Force fights to protect the population.

After all the tough training of the Defense Force's Third Division, the newcomer Reno Ichikawa notices that he finally has a day off. He is determined to enjoy it to the fullest, but having grown used to his daily work routine, he cannot remember what people actually do with free time.

When Reno discovers that the vice-captain of the Third Division, Soushirou Hoshina, has something planned for his own day off, he decides to follow him together with his comrade Iharu Furuhashi to uncover the secret behind it. Away from the battles against kaiju, the special offers a lighter look at the members of the Third Division and especially at the sharp, sword-wielding vice-captain whose private life remains a mystery to his subordinates.
