Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 is an eight-episode anthology where each episode adapts a different early one-shot, so the tone resets every time and the visuals shift with it. One story drops two humans into a schoolyard ruled by aliens, surviving by pretending to be chickens. Another follows a boy who throws himself in front of a bullet to protect the teacher he worships. A student council president tries to confess, but reality keeps derailing him in increasingly surreal ways. Elsewhere, a precise assassin is paid to kill an immortal vampire who wants to die, a boy teaches piano to a mermaid while fearing she may eat him, and a teen wakes up with an irreversible body change that scrambles his friendships and romance. Across all eight short films, the constant is people clinging to someone they cannot quite save. The last episodes push into cruelty and tenderness at once, with a child prophesied to end the world and a bitter feud between sisters after a humiliating portrait goes public.
