Cells at Work!: The Common Cold

Cells at Work!: The Common Cold is a special episode of Cells at Work!, the series that turns the inner workings of the human body into a lively world where cells are personified as hard-working people, each with their own job.

For the regular cells of the body, life consists of countless repetitive tasks. They spend every day multiplying, leaving little time for anything else. But one day this monotony is abruptly interrupted by a cell wearing an odd-looking hat. Tired of the unending drudgery, an ordinary cell named Ippan Saibou – literally, General Cell – decides to join this quirky stranger for a day of pranks, jokes and mischief.

As in the main series, the fun comes with a healthy dose of science: familiar faces from the body's defenses, such as the vigilant White Blood Cells, are never far away when something unusual is happening, and the story explains in an entertaining way what goes on inside us when we come down with a cold. It is a lighthearted standalone story that mixes comedy, action and biology in the series' trademark style.
