Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole

Magi and Yaeko see a man bleeding from a head injury and rush to help, but he refuses an ambulance, refuses the police, and runs as if being saved is the real danger. When they see him again he is fine, calm, and strangely confident, insisting he cannot die because he has been banned from the afterlife. He calls himself Momoyuki Mogura, and he keeps showing up at the edge of their lives with the ease of someone who has nowhere to go and nothing to fear. The claim sounds like a scam until the two students start noticing things that were never part of their world before, shapes in the corner of vision, presences where nobody stands, signs that something is following them home. Mogura talks about collecting strange lights tied to spirits, treating the unseen like a job he is forced to do. Magi and Yaeko keep trying to pin down what he is and what he wants, but the more they chase answers, the more the boundary between the living and the dead starts to crack around them.
