The Stories of Girls Who Couldn't Be Magicians

Kurumi Mirai spends her childhood chasing one promise. After seeing a magician clear the rain with real magic, she studies until every practice test says she should enter the elite Magumi course at Rettoran Magic Academy. The entrance result destroys that certainty. Kurumi is rejected and placed in the standard class with students treated as unable to become magicians. Yuzu Edel, the daughter of a respected magician family, is rejected too, and the two girls begin the year from the same humiliation despite coming from opposite backgrounds. Their teacher, Minami Suzuki, refuses to accept the school’s ranking as final and starts teaching the class through methods that do not rely only on the notebooks used by official magician candidates.

The class learns that magic is not only a privilege handed down through scores and family names. Kurumi, Yuzu, and their classmates study ancient magic, draw sigils, test mistakes, and discover that failure in one entrance exam did not measure everything they can become. Each lesson forces Kurumi to face disappointment without giving up the dream that brought her to the academy. Yuzu struggles with the shame of falling short of her family’s expectations, then begins to work beside Kurumi rather than above her. School events, practical tests, rumors about the Magumi, and strange secrets around the academy keep showing that the official system is hiding more than it explains. When Kurumi and Yuzu are offered another chance to enter the Magumi, they have to decide whether reaching the old goal is still the only way forward. Their path becomes a fight to prove that magic can belong to girls who were told they had already failed.
